Behind the Scenes
I'm Paul Beesley, a contemporary artist, painter, and printmaker working out of East Oxford.
My artistic style can be described as Contemporary Pop Realism and is deeply shaped by a dual life. By day, I’ve spent years working in construction and maintenance, a background that gave me a permanent fascination with raw materials, structural lines, and industrial grit. This then translates into an art practice focused on bold, texture-rich storytelling.
Rather than sticking to traditional canvas, I love the tactile challenge of working on repurposed materials, painting on everything from scrap cardboard to reclaimed MDF and timber panels. My subjects track the things that carry real energy: the unmistakable grit of local OX4 architecture, iconic cult comedy characters, music culture, and graphic typography.
Whether it’s a one of a kind acrylic painting, a striking Urban Pop Expressionist print, or a limited run of streetwear apparel, everything that leaves my studio is made to bring a distinct edge and a bit of real-world attitude into modern spaces.
